2012 In Review

2012 has been a fantastic literary year and from the scheduled posts I have so far, 2013 will not disappoint.  There are a million and one sites out there similar to mine but there is only one The Write Life.  I cover what interests me and hopefully my interests interest other people. (Did you get that? Good.)

My goal for 2013 is to raise enough funds (through an upcoming Indiegogo campaign to be released as soon as I finish it) to travel to a few book festivals, literary conferences, purchase/create items for giveaways, and to also upgrade the site so it can, you know, look like I actually know what I’m doing.(I’m a work in progress and so is this site.)

I hope you internet strangers and Twitter followers out there will continue to support what I’m trying to accomplish here and will become a lot less stranger-like by sharing, liking, and commenting on what you see.  It may seem like a simple process but trust, it’s a daunting task to seek out authors, send formal proposals to their handlers (publicists, agents, literary agents, sometimes lawyers) and have to wait for a reply (which often never comes).  It’s also time consuming to find interesting books for, by, and about people of color as well as finding their tour dates.

I also work a full-time job doing exactly what I do here (as well as public relations, video filming/editing, and installing and curating art exhibits) which can become really annoying because it’s so repetitive, but I LIVE for this site. I know there are other people out there who love books (and just good writing in general) the way that I do and for as long as you’ll have me, I’ll keep posting.

May 2013 be a prosperous and adventure-filled year for us all!

Happy Reading,

@TheLibraryGirl

Below is a year-in-review of the site. You guys made this happen, not me.  Check it out. 🙂

Here’s an excerpt:

The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner can carry about 250 passengers. This blog was viewed about 1,700 times in 2012. If it were a Dreamliner, it would take about 7 trips to carry that many people.
