In recognition of Women’s History Month (March) and in collaboration with The Write Life, the Auburn Avenue Research Library hosted Let’s Talk about It: Black Women and Stereotypes. Moderated by KISS 104.1 radio personality, Twanda Black, this discussion will focus on dissecting the ‘angry’ black woman and other stereotypes that have been assigned to black women. Panelists for this discussion include Dr. Stephane Dunn, Morehouse College Co-Director of Cinema, Television, & Emerging Media Studies; Dr. Lakesia Johnson, Grinnell College Assistant Professor of Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies and author of ICONIC: Decoding Images of the Revolutionary Black Woman,  and Dr. Shirlene Holmes, Georgia State University Assistant Professor.
